An Entrepreneur Must Create and Destroy

Sometimes it's hard being an entrepreneur.

And I don't mean the obvious stuff. The work, late nights, losing your best employee, having someone you love steal from you, etc.

Not those things, though, clearly that's hard. I mean this...

When you say you're going to open a business or you tell someone you own a business, there is this awe that it inspires.

You are celebrated and given the big "Way to Go!"

While simultaneously hearing the whispers behind your back saying you'll never make it.

Even that's not the hard stuff. It's the loneliness.

It's sitting at this computer to write this blog because I've been working on something else since 1pm, and I've accidentally deleted it 5 times (another story, another time.)

And I will do this...and get back to what I've spent 8 hours failing at...

Wait...let's re-route that thinking...

I have SUCCESSFULLY DELETED my full Shopify Store edits 5 times today over the course of the last 8 hours.

I have written what I hope you will like and created adjustments that I hope will make our manufacturers proud and excited to work with us.

I hope they will inspire you to do more business with us and understand more about our company.

Yet, you will never know.

It's realizing that no matter what I do, there will still be a world of humans who have zero understanding about the work I put in.

And it's the feeling and knowledge that no matter what you do, it will still never be enough.

That loneliness that plagues entrepreneurs is the first things they should tell you.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

You are about to enter the world of entrepreneurship where your business contacts will grow, and your personal life will shrink.

You will experience the greatest inspiration and triumphs of your life, while also feeling the greatest shredding of your heart.

You are on a path to create and destroy, but you cannot choose. You must take both.

Someone should have said that.

And overall, this isn't a dark and stormy blog post meant to deter anyone.

The more you know, the more prepared you can be.

Every person should understand the game they're playing before they opt in.

Nearly 20 years in business has taught me something that will help move me until tomorrow and finish the damn project.

If not me, then who?

Who will see this vision out?

Who will create this world I see?

Who will stand up to what's possible now and say, "I believe there's more."

If not me, then who...You?
